Discover the gardens, landscapes, and cultures of Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands through the lens of design thinking. This immersive study abroad course explores world-class gardens, historic estates, and vibrant urban spaces while highlighting how culture, history, and ecology shape design. Open to all majors, the program blends hands-on experiences with cultural exploration to inspire creativity and broaden perspectives.
A garden is much more than meets the eye– What does it tell you about the country’s history? How does it reflect the social structure and status of its society? What is going on in the world for it to exist in the first place? Do they hold secrets?
Why are landscapes meaningful? They tell you a story.
For that, there’s no better immersive experience than having your classroom be the gardens. Photograph, sketch, and use your senses to experience some of the most beautiful gardens, cultural sites, and architectural landmarks in Europe.
