OVERVIEW
The Smith Center launched the first Herbert College of Agriculture faculty-led study abroad program for UT students to Argentina in 2023. This program builds on links with agricultural institutions to develop long-term partnerships for education, research and extension.

IMPACTS
- The new study abroad program, led by Jonathan Walton and Christopher Boyer (AREC) and Sara Mulville (Smith Center) in March of 2023, took 13 students to Argentina with a focus on grain and livestock commodities plus trade and precision agriculture.
- A UTIA delegation traveled to Argentina in Fall 2022 to develop proposals for NSF and USDA. The delegation conducted site visits to INTA’s experimental stations in Buenos Aires, Balcarce, Bariloche, Mendoza and Tucumán and held meetings with researchers, private and public sector stakeholders working in agri-food systems and bioenergy projects.
