Center of Excellence on Sustainable Agricultural Intensification and Nutrition (CE SAIN) is housed at the Royal University of Agriculture in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. CE SAIN’s mission is to improve food and nutritional security in Cambodia by supporting agricultural research and education and promoting innovation. Dr. Leangsrun Chea, Country Director
Dr. Leangsrun Chea serves as the ALOFT Cambodia Country Director where he works coordinating Farmer-to-Farmer (F2F) in Cambodia. Dr. Chea holds a PhD in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Goettingen, Germany with a specialization in crop nutritional physiology. In addition to his role with F2F, Dr. Chea is the Agricultural Technical Manager for CE SAIN. Leangsrun’s favorite part of working with Farmer-to-Farmer is being able to interact with different people and provide assistance to the hosts based on their needs. His recommendations for volunteers are visiting the Royal Palace, S21 Museum, Silk Island, and the beaches in Phnom Penh.
Pisey Sar, Project Coordinator
Mrs. Pisey Sar serves as the ALFOT Cambodia Project Coordinator and is responsible for the recruitment of host organizations, development of scopes of work, and coordination of assignments. Pisey works to monitor all volunteer recommendations to ensure adoption and efficacy of the recommendations. Pisey holds a master’s degree in Development and International Studies from the Norton University in Cambodia. Prior to F2F, she has worked as a Program Manager for CE SAIN. Pisey’s favorite part of Farmer-to-Farmer is getting to work with talented and experienced people from diverse backgrounds. For volunteers in Cambodia she recommends trying fish amok, chicken curry, khmer noodles, kampot pepper crab, beef lok lak, and tropical fruits!
Sreyvatey Pen, Senior Project Officer
Mrs. Sreyvatey Pen serves as the ALOFT Cambodia Senior Project Officer and assists in host organization recruitment, monitoring the impact of host organizations and volunteer recommendations, and coordinating volunteer activities. Vatey holds a master’s degree in Agricultural Science from Sunchon National University in South Korea. Prior to F2F, she worked as a Research Assistant in a biotechnology laboratory at the Royal University of Agricluture. She also assisted in the first phase of F2F in Cambodia. Vatey recommends to future volunteers to visit Angkor Wat and the Royal Palace. As for food, she says you have to try fish smoke and nom banh chok!
Leakhena Khom, Finance Officer
Ms. Leakhena Khom serves as the ALOFT Cambodia Finance Officer and works alongside the Business Manager to support for the ALOFT Cambodia team and volunteer assignments. Leakhena received her bachelor’s degree in Accounting from VANDA Institute. In addition to her role with F2F, Leakhena serves all of CE SAIN. Leakhena’s recommendations for volunteers are to visit Siem Reap and try traditional Khmer food!
