The project development team at the Smith Center is committed to globalizing UTIA’s research, extension, and education mission by providing a suite of services, tools, and partnerships that position staff and faculty for success internationally.

How we work
Consultations
We work with faculty to
- Develop strategies to secure funding
- Globalize their programming and collaborations
Partnership building
We identify and match faculty teams with international funding opportunities. We also help faculty connect and partner with external collaborators.
Project development
We support grant application by:
- Developing teaming strategies
- Advising on international travel and field research
- Reviewing and editing application materials
- Writing application sections, e.g., geographic context, broader impact statements, monitoring and evaluation plans, sustainability plans
Project support
Smith Center members can be written into grants to play supporting roles, e.g., geographic expertise, program management and coordination, monitoring and evaluation. However, the Smith Center does not need to have a role in implementation in order to access project development support.
